Terms of Service

By using AI Notes, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use our service.

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll notify you of important changes. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.

AI Notes is a note-taking platform with AI writing features. We provide:

• A rich text editor for creating and organizing notes
• AI-powered writing assistance (requires API keys)
• Local storage that works offline
• Optional cloud sync across devices
• Search and organization tools

We're a new platform and actively improving. Features may change as we grow.

To use some features, you need an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate information when signing up
• Keep your login details secure
• Tell us right away if someone else uses your account
• Be responsible for all activity under your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use AI Notes. If you're under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian.

You own your notes. We don't claim ownership of anything you create in AI Notes.

By using cloud sync, you give us permission to store and display your content so the service works. We won't share, sell, or use your content for anything else without your permission.

You're responsible for your content. Don't use AI Notes for anything illegal or harmful.

When using AI Notes, you agree NOT to:

• Break any laws or regulations
• Harm, threaten, or harass others
• Share content that violates others' rights
• Try to access other users' accounts
• Attack or try to break our systems
• Use bots or scripts that harm the service
• Resell or redistribute the service without permission

We may suspend accounts that violate these rules.

AI features in AI Notes use third-party AI providers (Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, or Ollama). When you use AI features:

• Selected text is sent to your chosen AI provider
• You're responsible for costs from your own API keys
• AI providers have their own terms and privacy policies
• AI-generated content may not always be accurate

We don't control AI provider services and aren't responsible for their actions.

AI Notes is free to use. All features are available at no cost.

The only costs come from AI API usage. You can either:

• Use your own API keys (pay the AI provider directly)
• Use a self-hosted option like Ollama (free)
• Use our managed API when available (coming soon)

We'll always be transparent about any costs before you incur them.

AI Notes, including our code, design, and brand, belongs to us. You can't copy, modify, or distribute it without permission.

You keep all rights to your own content. We don't use your notes to train AI models or for any purpose other than providing the service.

We provide AI Notes "as is" without warranties. We can't guarantee:

• The service will always be available or error-free
• AI-generated content will be accurate or appropriate
• Your data will never be lost (always keep backups)
• The service will meet all your specific needs

We work hard to provide a reliable service, but we can't promise perfection.

To the extent allowed by law, we're not liable for:

• Lost data or content
• Lost profits or opportunities
• Indirect or consequential damages
• Issues caused by third-party services

Our total liability is limited to amounts you've paid us in the last 12 months (which is zero if you haven't paid anything).

You can stop using AI Notes anytime. You can delete your account in Settings.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. We'll try to give notice when possible, but may act immediately for serious violations.

When your account is deleted:

• Your cloud-synced data will be permanently removed
• Local data on your device stays until you clear it
• Some anonymized data may be kept for analytics

These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Alberta, Canada.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email or through the app.

Continued use of AI Notes after changes means you accept the new terms.
